Pentecost ks2

WebThe term Pentecost comes from the Greek Πεντηκοστή (Pentēkostē) meaning "fiftieth". The day celebrates the day the Holy Spirit is said to have descended on Jesus' disciples, 50 days after his ascension to heaven. The ascension is marked by Easter. Therefore, Pentecost is celebrated fifty days after Easter. WebIt was on this day that the disciples started the job Jesus had given them to do – the job of telling other people about Jesus. So this is what Christians celebrate on Pentecost Sunday – the day when the Holy Spirit came, the day when lots and lots of people became followers of Jesus and the day when the Christian Church really started.
