The modern American ski resort was born at Sun Valley- a combination of thrilling skiing, comfortable lodging and delightful apres-ski choices. Plus they added one more enduring element to the mix: bright, clear ski days basking in sun. This combination has kept Sun Valley in the forefront of popular resorts and continues to attract avid as well as beginner skiers.
There are over 70 runs, a 3,400-foot vertical drop and more uphill capacity per skier than any other ski area in the USA. An excellent European-style shuttle service provides easy access to the slopes and town.
Apres-ski features ice skating at an Olympic-class rink, miles of groomed cross-country trails, or welcome relaxation around the fire at one of the resort's cozy bars.

River Run
The River Run area of Bald Mountain is full of slopes covering all ranges of abilities. The most difficult runs, Olympic and Exhibition, are countered by an easier Olympic Ridge and Olympic Lane. From the top, intermediate skiers can choose Cutoff or Blue Grouse to Mid River Run to get back to the River Run Lift. From there it is a nine-minute lift ride back to the top. Advanced skiers can tackle the Rock Garden, Exhibition or Upper Holiday runs for moguls galore.
Seattle Ridge
Seattle Ridge Lodge overlooks all runs designated as slow skiing areas with the exception of the difficult Firetrail. Seattle Ridge runs are well groomed and served by the Seattle Ridge chairlift, a five minute ride from the bottom of the ridge back to the top.
The Bowls
The Bowls along the top of Bald Mountain range in difficulty from easiest (Broadway Face) to most difficult (Little Easter Bowl). Intermediate skiers can begin at the left of the mountain and move to the right as they feel more comfortable. The Bowls are easily served by the Mayday chairlift, a seven minute ride back to the top.
Warm Springs
Warm Springs, named for the warm bubbling water at the base of the lift, is a great area of the mountain for the intermediate skier who needs a little more time to move on to the advanced stage. Filled with more difficult runs, Warm Springs glows in the afternoon sunshine. The top of the area is home to Warm Springs Face and most difficult runs International and Limelight. Halfway down, skiers can decide which of the more difficult runs they want to venture on ranging from Brick's Island to Cozy.
Half Pipe
The ski and snowboard half-pipe is located on the skier's left side of Lower Warm Springs, below Race Arena. The u-shaped terrain features are about 400 feet in length, 40 feet wide, with walls about 12 feet high.

Sun Valley’s second Christmas season was celebrated by the opening of the Challenger Inn in 1937. Renamed the Sun Valley Inn in the early Seventies, Sun Valley’s second hotel was inspired by the movie set for Paramount’s “I Met Him In Paris,” filmed near the resort in 1937.
Today, the hotel provides 109 rooms and the resort’s new state of the art Convention Center, and is located in the heart of the Sun Valley Village. Guest rooms are newly remodeled with elaborate and gracious décor appointed with the very finest European fabrics, carpeting and ornate wall coverings, marble baths and a large-screen color television. Dining opportunities at the Inn include the historic Ram restaurant, the new Lobby Lounge serving light fare and cocktails and the family friendly Bald Mountain Pizza and Pasta. An exercise room adjoins the outdoor glass-enclosed swimming pool. A laundry room with self-service washers and dryers is also available. |

The Sun Valley Lodge, built in 1936, was constructed from the ground up with every amenity a skier could possibly imagine.
The 148-room-hotel is a complete luxury hotel with an adjoining glass enclosed outdoor pool and Sun Valley's famous outdoor ice rink and Terrace.
Inside guests enjoy Gretchen's Restaurant, the elegant Lodge Dining Room, the Duchin Lounge named for Eddie Duchin, Beauty Salon, Spa and Exercise Room - and for kids of all ages a bowling alley (six lanes) and game room. A Gift Shop and concierge are located in the Lobby. Ski shuttles depart every 15 minutes from the door.
