7 day Independent OR Escorted tour

From Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Leutasch and back to Garmisch

One name, one symbol. Zugspitze is one of the best known summits of the Alps and can be quite easily surmounted by cable car. That is why we choose to walk around the base of the Zugspitze massif, viewing it from different angles and exploring beautiful hiking territory.
Adventurous and sensational crossing of gorges, thundering waters leaving unforgettable impressions. Idyllic alpine pastures and traditional “Brotzeit” the repast to sustain yourself during the hike are inseparable aspects of this hiking tour.

Highlights:

- Many gorges

- Scenic views to the rugged summits of Wetterstein Massif

- Idyllic mountain villages

- Varied route

- Excellent cuisine

- Tyrolean charm

Individual arrival in Garmsich-Partenkirchen and check in at the hotel.

Day 2: Partnachklamm - Mittenwald/Klais
day2

Wild and idyllic start of the day through the steep gorge Partnachklamm, where the water courses from Wetterstein massif meet. Afterwards walk across soft hills and alpine pastures to Klais or Mittenwald.

Day 3: "Geisterklamm" (Ghost Gorge) and Leutasch Valley

To make the gorge passable the path was hewn with extreme precision into the rock and bold bridges cross up to 40 m above the water. Relax on a comfortable walk along the stream Leutascher Ache into the valley. Past small hamlets and flower meadows with Wetterstein Massif forming a stunning backdrop you walk into widening Leutasch Valley.

Day 4: Rest day or Lake Walk
day4

Today you are free either to relax or take a walk to the many lakes in and around Seefeld. Return by public bus.

Day 5: Paradise Gaistal Valley
gaistal

Summer in Gaistal Valley is blissful for the small light brown ponies and grey and brown cattle. We walk on Ganghofer (a local writer) path across the alpine pastures up to the crossing to Ehrwalder Alm. Picture book scenery. Downhill by cable car.

Day 6: Sharp past Zugspitze - Lake Eibsee
day6

Bit by bit we walk up to the foot of Zugspitze and famous scenic view on Lake Eibsee. The tour ends at the lovely lake with Zugspitz-Garmisch panorama. Simply beautiful. Return to Garmisch by Zugspitzbahn.

Day 7: Individual journey home

After breakfast your tour comes to an end and you may begin your journey home. We would also be more than happy to extend your stay in Europe.
