Belize is a gorgeous tropical jewel that sits right on the shores of the Caribbean Sea. Its rich Mayan heritage is well preserved for us to explore and reflect upon. Belize boasts the second longest barrier reef, and the perfect way to explore this region is by kayak. Offshore, Belize’s barrier reef and other isolated reefs are sprinkled with numerous small islands, sandy beaches, isolated coves and warm Caribbean breezes.

This tour starts in Placencia, with its colorful homes, palm trees and three mile long beachfront. We have the opportunity to explore some of the most beautiful cays in Belize. There is time to snorkel, swim or relax in your hammock as the sun sets.

This is an adventure accessible to enthusiasts of all levels, as we offer a support boat throughout.

Our support boat follows you while kayaking among some of the most beautiful intimate Belize islands. Day to Day Itinerary

 

Day 1

Indivual arrival at Belize City
Land at Belize City, then go through customs to Maya Island Air. The Maya flight takes 30- 40 minutes to Placencia. Our representative will be waiting for you and will show you to your hotel. The afternoon is yours to settle in and explore. At dinner we will get to know our fellow travelers and go over plans for the week ahead.

Day 2

Round Caye, Buttonwood Caye

After breakfast, we will head out to the Cayes in a local power boat. This first day will allow us plenty of time to prepare our kayaks and to cool off in the Caribbean with our first snorkel.

Day 3-6

Buttonwood Caye, the Silks, Pompion, Little Water

We will travel amongst some of the most beautiful small islands in the world. There will be ample opportunities to snorkel, fish and swim in addition to kayaking. Alternatively, you can just relax in your hammock and watch the sun go down into the Caribbean Sea.

Day 7

Scipio Caye, Placencia

This will be our last day in this peaceful world. We will kayak in the morning and then take a power boat back to Placencia. After a refreshing shower and hearty meal, the evening will be one of music and dancing with our Belizean friends.

Day 8

Individual departure

After an incredible week of kayaking, we bid farewell. An early or mid-morning flight will take you back to the Belize City airport.

What to expect?

What will the weather be like?
Daytime temperatures range around 75 F (24C) or higher, but can dip quite low in the evenings. Sun screen and bug repellant are a must. Rainy season is in the summer, from about May to November.

How many hours of kayaking a day?
You can for about 4 to 5 hours a day on this adventure. We do kayak from one caye to another, so some previous experience is helpful, but not necessary. Anyone in reasonable shape will enjoy this trip.

What are the accommodations like?
Lodges and camping are simple. These are not high end resorts, but simple and comfortable accommodations. While camping, we use 4 man tents for each 2 people, so it is roomy. All group material is included. You must bring a sleeping mat, and bag for your own personal use.
