7 day Custom Escorted Tour

Our French bike tours are appreciated by our clients because of the choice of their hotels and for the gastronomic highlights in the restaurants. That’s why we are excited to present an unforgettable cooking course in the Provence region. A cooking course where all lovers of the fine cuisine of Provence will be able to prepare their own meals.
You follow special cooking courses in one of our nicest hotels (rated 2 chimneys by Logis de France), located in a very peaceful and relaxing area not far from Avignon. Every day at 5 p.m., you’ll take possession of the kitchen in the company of the chef and become his assistant, and at dinner you enjoy the fruits of your labour.
That’s not all, because during the day we organise different themed excursions by bike. To example, shopping at the excellent food market in Villenueve-lez-Avignon, or visiting one of the famous wine cellars of the Cotes-du-Rhone, or cycling through the fruit trees along the Rhone river. You’ll also discover some of the specialities of the area with the 3 picnics we organise in the lovely surroundings of the Provence countryside.

This trip is sure to be an unforgettable cooking, tasting and riding stay in Provence.

Day 1

Arrival at Avignon, meeting with your guide and dinner with the group at the restaurant of the hotel at 7.30 p.m. 

Day 2

With our van to Isle-sur-Sorgue, then by bike to Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. Buying of specialities to picnic on the edge of the Sorgue river. By bike back to Isle-sur-Sorgue, then with our van back to the hotel. The cooking class starts at 4 p.m. 

Day 3

With the chef, buying at the professional market in Avignon. By our van to a wine tasting of the Côtes du Rhône. Buying of specialities and a picnic lunch. By our van back to the hotel. The cooking class starts at 4 p.m.

Day 4

By our van to Maillane. Then by bike to the small town St.-Rémy-de-Provence where you’ll see the colourful weekly market, one of the most typical of the Provence region. Buying of specialities on the market and picnic at the Roman monuments ‘Les Antiques’. By bike back to Maillane and then with the van back to the hotel in Avignon. The cooking class starts at 4 p.m. 

Day 5

By our van to the town of Beaucaire on the Rhone. Visit of a professional food wholesaler where we can buy specialities for the picnic. With the van to the Camargue, then by bike to the lake ‘Étang de Vaccarès’. Picnic amongst nature! Back to the van which brings the group to the hotel in Avignon. The cooking class starts at 4 p.m. 

Day 6

By bike to Avignon, visit and tour of the historical centre and its many monuments. Free time for shopping. Back to the hotel. The cooking class starts at 4 p.m. 

Day 7

Unfortunately, end of the tour after breakfast! 

Rating: Easy to Moderate

This area is fairly flat with rolling hills. You cycle along quiet backroads and dedicated cycle paths. A few busy roads are encountered at the main towns.

Airport / Transfers

The nearest airport is Avignon however it is very small. There are no train or shuttles serving Avignon Airport.
Marseilles Airport is approx. 100km distant. Bus/rail transfers from Marseilles are available at $35.00
You may also take the TGV express train from Paris (3 hours), at a cost of $140
